mCare Patient Healthcare System

mCare*, from Astute Mobile Data Solutions Ltd, is a simple and flexible mobile worker solution for the NHS environment. It integrates the proven, robust and secure BlackBerry® solution with a range of healthcare data systems.

It was designed to fulfil a need, in the modern unscheduled primary care services, for sending accurate and real-time case information and demographics to the mobile clinical workforce at Northern Doctors Urgent Care based in Newcastle upon Tyne, one of the leading UK organisations for large scale out of hours provision.

Providing accurate data from established processes, telephone call handlers collect patient demographics and symptoms which are added with; Triaging Doctor’s notes, any Special Notes and then on directly to the mobile clinician’s fingertips in secured and encrypted format. This outstanding call is then temporarily stored on the handheld device (to protect against cellular signal loss) whilst the application allows that clinician to record, very simply, the critical information, including details of patient history, examination, treatment notes and condition diagnosis. This is carried in a robust end to end solution, secured even for the rigours of military use.

The solution can pull data from any database engine securely, in this case Microsoft SQL Server, and allows for patient identifiable data to be brought to a handheld device for any clinician, be they a doctor, district nurse, dentist, community midwife or clinical manager. The call can then be effectively dealt with, on the move, with no health and safety implications of laptops in vehicles, or the complexities associated with N3 VPN tokens, or the reliability and asset issues of mobile computer and broadband solutions, etc.
